Obituary
Mark Evenson, age 66 of Neenah, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016. He was born in Minneapolis, MN on August 24, 1949 to the late Rev. Leland and Lenore Evenson. At age 1 ½, he and his family sailed to South Africa, where his parents served as Lutheran missionaries until 1965. There he made many life-long friends whom he considered his Mission family and developed his passion for caring for animals. After his family returned to Minnesota, Mark met Linda Enstad, his wife of 44 years. In 1967 he graduated from Blooming Prairie High School and then attended Waldorf College in Forest City, IA and Lutheran Bible Institute in Seattle, WA.
In 1971, Mark was drafted into the U.S. Army and stationed in Amberg, Germany where he and Linda were married. After his service, he trained at WWTI in biomedical electronics and spent his entire career in this field, first at Appleton Medical Center, and then at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh.
Mark loved animals, the outdoors, and in particular caring for his flock of pigeons, which he could identify individually. He enjoyed caring for houseplants and his perennial gardens. Mark also loved to salmon fish with his brothers and friends in Washington. He could fix almost anything; Volvo station wagons were his specialty.
Mark was a man of faith with a tender heart. He was a faithful member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Neenah.
Mark is survived by his wife Linda Evenson; daughter Rachelle (Dan Gahres) Evenson; son Jon (Valerie) Evenson; grandchildren Esther, Lydia, and Samuel; siblings Linda (David) Werley and Rolf Evenson; and his special dog Ollie. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Richard Evenson.
A Memorial Service for Mark will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1140 Tullar Rd., Neenah, Rev. Jon Gallatin officiating. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of service.
