KARREN SUGDEN

Karren L. Sugden, age 75, of Freedom passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016. She was born on July 1, 1940 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Karl and Ester (Dorn) Hellwig. Karren graduated from Milwaukee Lutheran High School in 1958, and went on to earn a degree in Home Economics from Valparaiso University in 1962. Karren worked as a Home Economist for Wisconsin Electric from 1963 – 1971, and during this time she helped with publishing the famous Wisconsin Christmas Cookie Book. Other careers included: teaching preschool for Mary Linsmeir Schools, and she went on to retire from the Medical College of Wisconsin as a coordinator for third year clerkship in 2008. Karren then married Thomas L. Sugden, and moved into Karren's dream home. Karren enjoyed cooking, sewing, Sudoku Puzzles, flowers, and traveling. Her loving, nurturing, cheerful, and generous spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Karren is survived by her husband, Thomas; step-children: Dawn Thompson, Pardeeville, Carrie (Rob) Killian, Freedom, Kim (Gary) Bunnell, Black Creek; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Craine (Yeek), Queen Creek, AZ; sister-in-law, Linda (Jon) Forsman, Milwaukee; niece, Susie (Tom) DiSalvo; nephew, Jon Forsman II; grandchildren: Sam Yeek; Alyssa Jacob; Matt and Brock Killian; Ben, Nathan (fiancée Kayla), Andrew, and Jacob Thompson; a great grandson, Jayden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Don Yeek; a son, Daniel Yeek; and a stepson-in-law, Jeff Thompson.

The Funeral Service for Karren will be held on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church (1228 S. Park Ave., Neenah) with Rev. Ricky Schroeder officiating. Friends will be received on Friday directly at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Karren's name.
