KARL MOEDE

Karl E. Moede, age 80, of Neenah passed away on Sunday night, April 24, 2016 at Theda Clark Medical Center.  He was born on October 16, 1935 in Shawano, Wisconsin son of the late Charles and Viola (Hoernke) Moede.  After attending Shawano High School, Karl proudly served his country with the U.S. Air Force.  On November 28, 1959 he married Hope A. Hilgenberg at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Kaukauna.  Their marriage was blessed with three daughters and 56 wonderful years.  He retired in 1997 from James River Corp. after nearly 40 years as a tow motor operator.  Karl enjoyed all that the outdoors had to offer: hunting, fishing, trapping.  In his later years, he shifted his focus to conservation and reforestation.  He also enjoyed building birdhouses, was a good dancer of the Waltz and Polka.  He was proficient in many trades, and seemed like he could fix anything.  Karl was a strong man with a strong will, who commanded respect and did things “his way.”

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Hope; his daughters: Lori Moede, Neenah, Connie Pozolinski, Neenah, Mickey (David) Weber, Neenah; grandchildren: Andy (Sp. Friend Katie Thull) Pozolinski, Kristopher Weber, Austin (April) Jackson; great-granddaughters: Grace and Faith Thull; a sister, Sharlene Galland, Shawano; a brother, Donald (Lani) Moede, Sussex; several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Yvonne (Clarence) Schnell; and brother-in-law, Harold “Bud” Galland.

A memorial service for Karl will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church (1140 Tullar Rd., Neenah) with Rev. Jon Gallatin officiating.  Friends will be received directly at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Karl's name.
