WARREN BROWN

Warren Nathan Brown, age 55, died May 12, 2016 in a kayaking accident on Lake Winnebago, Wisconsin. Warren was born January 17, 1961 in Illinois to James and Virginia Brown.

Warren graduated from Waukesha South High School in 1978, and from UW-Madison in 1985, with a BS in Organic Chemistry. He enjoyed the challenges of working as a chemist and research scientist at Bell Laboratories, Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, and the Pharmaceutical Product Development Corp.

He lived for many years in Madison, fellowshipping at High Point Church. More recently he lived in Menasha, West Allis, and Appleton, worshiping at Christ the Rock.

Warren's cats were a central part of his life, and Kika and Freddie will miss the man who loved and spoiled them constantly.

Warren loved to dive passionately into his hobbies. He chased auroras, took portraits and candid shots (to the dismay of his nieces) and always looked for new ways to improve his skills. He was dedicated to target shooting, achieving Master level in competitive high power rifle marksmanship. He was particularly passionate about politics and loved to read, challenge, tweet, and discuss the state of the country and world. In the last three years kayaking also became a passion and he had already been out on the water many times this spring. He was a lifelong learner, reading voraciously and exploring new things. He collected music, and loved waterfalls. He was dedicated to doing the best he possibly could and being prepared for every situation. Every detail was important to him, and he was incredibly strong, kind, forgiving, and generous with his time, skills and advice.

Warren's greatest passion of all was his love for his Savior, Jesus. He was truly a new creation in Christ Jesus and never lost his awe, wonder, and thankfulness for what Christ did for him. He was preceded in death by his niece, Maria, in 2002. Her death proved to be a crisis point that led him to reach out to Jesus. His deepest wish now would be for his own death to lead family and friends to a similar realization that life is short, we cannot do it alone, and that our only hope is in Christ Who truly has a perfect plan for each our lives.

He is survived by his parents, James L. and Virginia R. Brown (Fredonia, WI), his sister Karen (Menasha), and her children, Aaron, Joanna, (Maria), Bethany, Rachel, Emma, Katya, Noelle, and Tonia, and his sister Laura (West Allis), and her daughters, Lindsay (Cook) Brandt, and Gabriella Cabrera Brown. He is also survived by his Brasilian brother, Fidel Blanco Calcagno, (Japan), and by aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Christ the Rock Community Church, W6254 US 10-114, Menasha, WI, on Friday, May 20, 2016, at 11:00 am, with visitation from 9-11.  Burial will be at a later time at Greenwood Cemetery in Reedsburg, WI.
