Obituary

James P. Konetzke, 69, of Menasha, WI passed away on February 18, 2025. He was born on March 6, 1955 to Carol (Spielbauer) and James Konetzke. 

“Big Jim” was a lifelong resident of Menasha and graduated from Menasha High School. Along with being a single parent to his beautiful daughter Katrina, Jim loved riding his Harleys, hunting, and live music. Jim especially loved participating in these events with his many friends and family. He was a free-spirited man who was selfless in everything he did. 

He is survived by his daughter Katrina (Spencer) Ernst whom he loved deeply and was his absolute pride and joy in life. 

Jim is further survived by his sister, Linda Van Wyk; brothers; Gary; Curt; and Rick (Penney); former sister-in-law Kathy; and by many other relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Jim and Carol; brother, Chris; and brother-in-law, Tom Van Wyk.

If you knew Big Jim, then you should understand he wasn't exactly a flowers kind of guy, so in lieu of stems and blooms, please “pour one out” and “sign in” where you shared a favorite memory with him. 

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 6:00 pm at Menasha's Westgor Funeral Home, 1140 Appleton Road, Menasha, WI. A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until the time of service.

So sorry to hear about the big guy, I will never forget the first time ben and I met jim .. ben found these guys selling camping passes and we met up at Walmart in Oshkosh and we were sitting in the parkiab!ng lot and all of the sudden this old Ford pick up pulling an equally old camper come pulling in and we were like no way!!! Sure enough this was our guy!! We went to rock usa and were welcomed with open arms by some of the most genuine people I've ever met and the head of the table was big jim . I was glad to have met him and had the opportunity to hang with one of the craziest, funniest ,most fun at a party ,would do anything for anyone who needed it dudes you'd ever be lucky enough to meet!!! Rest big guy!!

Jim will always be associated with wonderful memories of the Menasha Entourage and the Encampment at "The Barracks" and later, under the stars, at Chute Pond, for an endless three days of the celebration of our youth! Jim's unique laugh was almost as if a musical composer wrote it. It started out softly, rose to a moment of pause, and ended in a crescendo of Joy.

Jim and I dated when we were in high school. We went to Prom and Homecoming. I remember him being a very sweet and nice young man. I'm so sorry for your loss.

My dearest friend Big Jim I will forever miss my heart goes 💔 to Katrina she will always be in my thoughts and prayers she was his life's greatest gift he was the proudest Father and my best friend we hunted together for the past 30 +years he enjoyed and looked forward to every year.we had so many great times together hunting and telling stories we always had a great time together . If he ever wanted a hand or need a handyman he would call me I will miss the call to action he was like a brother to me and I will forever miss. Love you Jim God Bless.
