RUTH STAFFELD

Ruth M. Staffeld, age 91, of Neenah passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Prairie Home in Menasha.  She was born on September 19, 1925, daughter of the late John and Hattie (Sternhagen) Backes.  On June 11, 1949 she married Donald F. Staffeld.  Their marriage was blessed with two sons and 52 wonderful years before Donald preceded her in death on October 8, 2001.  Ruth worked side-by-side with Don at their insurance business.  She took pride in raising family and keeping a nice home.  Ruth was an expert at throwing together many last-minute fish boils, per Don's request.  She volunteered for many years at the EAA as a docent, into her late 80s.  She and Don both enjoyed working with the B-17.  Ruth loved birdwatching, and reading.  She was a warm soul, with a big heart, and she loved her family to no end.

She will be sadly missed by her sons: Bill (Jill) Staffeld, Neenah; Bob (Laurie) Staffeld, Appleton; a brother-in-law, Robert J. Staffeld, Mountain Home, AR; a close friend, Judy Millard; several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, and her beloved husband Don, she was preceded in death by her sister, Leola Backes; and brother-in-law, Alvin Staffeld.

A Memorial Gathering for Ruth will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home.  She will be laid to rest beside Don at Oak Hill Cemetery in Neenah.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in her name.
