ARLO SELL

Arlo Mae Sell passed away on October 1, 2016. She was born on September 20, 1928, the child of Matthew and Jennie Nelson. She had a happy childhood growing up on the family farm with her older brother Orville and younger sister Ruth.

Arlo graduated from Hortonville High School in 1946, and then went to work at the main office of Kimberly-Clark in Neenah, where she worked for 18 years. In February of 1954 she married John Abendschein. They had one child, a baby girl named Judy. But then tragedy struck and John died of Hodgkin's disease in October of 1960. Arlo then went back to work at KC's main office. In May of 1964, she married Everett Sell and was able to quit work and be home with her little girl, which she greatly appreciated.

After a number of years, she went to work as the secretary for her church, First United Methodist Church in Neenah, where she worked for 18 years. She was very active in that church for many years, as a member of the choir, Circle member, and President of United Methodist Women; she helped in the church kitchen for many dinners and lunches, helped in the church library, and with the sewing club.

Arlo enjoyed music, singing, and dancing. She joined the Y-Not Chorus at the YMCA where she met “Salty” Salsieder. They had a wonderful, nearly five years together traveling, both long trips and short, doing everything together, singing and dancing, seeing many different places – the happiest years of their lives.

Arlo is survived by her wonderful gentleman, “Salty;” her beloved daughter, Judy Abendschein; brother and family: Orville and Lila Nelson, and Bob and Jim Nelson; her sister's family: Shaleen, Mike, Sean, and Susan Avants; special cousin, Wayne Nelson; special friend Susie Rohde; step-daughter and family: Mary Kay and Patrick Wright; Cathy and Jenny and families; brother-in-law and family: Phil and Nancy Abendschein; and Bill and Tom and families; several cousins; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands: John Abendschein and Everett Sell; sister, Ruth Avants; several cousins, and many friends.

The funeral service for Arlo will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at First United Methodist Church, 108 W. Doty Ave., Neenah, with Rev. Mark Geisthardt officiating. Visitation will be held at church from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of service. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
