DOROTHY MUELLER

Dorothy E. Mueller, age 93, the Lord took my hand and brought me home on Tuesday, January 12, 2021. I was born, daughter of the late Fred and Anna (Hort) Pagel on April 4th, 1927 in Wausau, Wi. I was baptized and confirmed at St. Stephens Lutheran Church.

I went to school at St. Stephens until the 8th grade, downstairs at the church and then to Wausau High School. As a young girl, I did a lot of babysitting and a lot of sitting for my siblings, so that my mom and dad could go to work, because I was the oldest of 14 kids.

I worked at Woolworth's Dime Store and later at St. Mary Hospital and then at St. Michaels Hospital in Stevens Point. At age 17, I and a friend found a house-sitting/babysitting job for the summer in Neenah. There I met a young Marine named Bill, who was wounded in Guam and recently discharged. He became the love of my life. We married on June 19, 1947 and raised 5 precious children: Carol, Lynn, Bill, David and Sara. We later parted but remained friends. 20 years later I met and married another wonderful man, by the name of John Mueller. He passed away March of 2009.  I was a life-long member of the Menasha Eagles Club and helped raise a lot of money for various charities.

I am survived by 3 daughters: Carol Lewitzke, Lynn (Wallace) Beversdorf, Sara Huolihan; daughter-in-law, Joann Smith; Grandchildren: Brad (Sheila) Lewitzke, Chandra (Chris) MacFarland, Thad (Lauren) Beversdorf, Jennifer (Shane) VanHandel, Stephanie (John) Svanda, Kristofer (Rodney) Smith-Kaufman, Kaitlin Smith, Matt Smith, Doug Madel, Danielle Huolihan, Colin Huolihan; Great grandchildren: Jake, Cara, Gavin and Sawyer MacFarland, Trey and Paige VanHandel, Spencer and Olivia Millay, Parker and Gideon MadeI and my sister, Violet Delrow.

I was preceded in death by 2 husbands; 2 sons:  Billy and David; 3 sons-in-law: Richard Lewitzke, Thomas Huolihan and Daniel Birr; grandson, Brian Smith; and 6 brothers and 6 sisters. 

Her children were very blessed because Dorothy was the most loving, amazing, strongest and caring person they could have been raised by. 

The funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Menasha's Westgor Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until the hour of service.  In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in her name.

No one is more disappointed in my passing than I am. I planned to live to be 100+1 day old so that I could block the street off and have a polka party.
