Obituary
Elizabeth "Betty" Wohlers, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016. She was born in Oshkosh on May 13, 1929, the first child of the late George and Elizabeth Kolodzik.
Betty graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1947 and married Hubert "Hugh" Wohlers on June 11, 1949. Betty and Hugh lived in Neenah where they raised their four children.
She worked for many years at National Food Store. Betty loved to golf, bowl, play volleyball along with spending time at the family cabin at Boulder Lake. After retirement they built a home along the Wolf River in Fremont where they spent their leisurely time fishing and pontoon boating along the river. Betty also enjoyed volunteering for meals on wheels. Betty and Hugh were married for 41 years before he passed away in 1990.
Betty was blessed to meet Bill Bero Jr. at the Weymont Golf course, they were married on June 26, 1993. Together they lived in Waupaca on Nessling Lake which became the hub of many fun family gatherings. Fond memories were created on the shores of the Chain O' Lakes. They enjoyed there winters in Avon Park, Florida golfing and spending time with their snowbird friends.
She is survived by her husband William Bero Jr.; children: Mike (Chris) Wohlers, Debbie (Ike) Andrews and Mark (Carol) Wohlers; son in law Bob Rivet; grandchildren: Kevin (Tanya) Wohlers, Holly (Nick) Sommer, Kimberly (Tony) Schakel, Brian (Mary) Rivet, Erin Rivet, Alicia (Derek VonDerheide) Andrews, Zachary Andrews, Emily Andrews, Julia (Brian) Berrett, Jason Kilpin, Audrey Murphy, Alex Murphy. Great grandchildren: Lucas, Taylor, Carson, Demitri, Ellen and Clare. Betty was very excited about her new great grandchild due in March.
Betty is further survived by her siblings: Marion Paulsen, Donna Walters, and Raymond (Betsy) Kolodzik; step-children: Patricia (Paul Theyel) Bero, Colleen (Curt) Sponberg, William (Patty) Bero III, John (Vicki) Bero, and David Bero; step-grandchildren: Hans (Sarah) Sponberg, Brian (Elizabeth Sullivan) Theyel, Hanna (Daniel Keifenheim) Sponberg, Dawn (Kurt) Tyler, Kate (Colin Ross) Bero, Carrie (Matt Evensen) Bero, James (Brianna) Bero, and Daniel Bero; and step-great-grandchildren: Ansel Keifenheim, Catherine Tyler, Aubrey Sponberg; and Keira Theyel.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband Hugh Wohlers; daughter Kathy Rivet; sister Shirley Gohlke; and step-grandson Peter Bero.
A memorial service for Betty will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 140 S. Green Bay Road, Neenah with Rev. Robert Wilkinson officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service. She will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be given towards dementia research in Betty's loving memory.
