Shirley Ann (Crass) Miller, age 79, Oshkosh
On Saturday, February 6, 2016, surrounded by her loving family, the Lord decided it was time for Shirley to come home, where she is reunited with Rod, the love of her life.
Shirley was born on May 22, 1936, in Sturgeon Bay, the first of eight children born to Merton and Sylvia (Walker) Crass. Shirley and Rod were high school sweethearts and they married on January 22, 1955. Everyone who knew them knew they were meant to be together. They were faithful members of Peace Lutheran Church for 35 years.
Shirley enjoyed gardening, baking, bowling, boating, fishing, and cheering on the Packers. Rod and Shirl had so many wonderful times at the cottage they built in Lakewood, many of which were the annual Trout Boil weekends, when family and friends would get together to eat and drink, and to play cards, volleyball, and extreme croquet.
Shirley will be deeply missed by her five children, Lisa Miller-Sauer, Neenah, Sharlene (Stephen) Laumer, Oak Grove, MN, Marcia (William) Standiford, Neenah, Rodney (Karen) Miller, Jr., Shiocton, Charles (Barbara) Miller, Greenville; her 11 grandchildren, Jesse (Orca) Sauer, Melissa Laumer, Paul Laumer, Andrew (Liz) Standiford, Daniel (Melissa) Standiford, Michael Miller (fiancee Michelle), Jenika Miller (special friend, Brandon), Joseph (Carli) Miller, Zachary Miller, Savanna Miller, Hunter Miller; four great grandchildren, Zoe Standiford, Xander Miller, Ryker Miller, Draeden Miller; sisters Karen (Ed) Warren, Susie (James) Shaw; brothers Roger Crass, Philip (Debbie) Crass, Jim (Chris) Crass, Dale (Sue) Crass; brothers and sisters-in-law, Eilene Lardinois, Karan (Tom) Hugg, Jan (Matt) Grissom, Judy (Sid) Jorgenson, Kathy Wyman, Larry (Sandy) Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Loved ones that have gone before Shirley include her husband, Rodney L. Miller, Sr.; an infant son, Eric, whom she never had the chance to hold; parents, Merton and Sylvia Crass; parents-in-law, Henry and Mabel Miller; brother, Charles Crass; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sun Cha Crass, Donald Miller, Marian Miller, William Miller, Norman Lardinois, August Wyman; and nieces and a nephew, Colleen Van Zee, Linda Crass, and Dale Lardinois.
The Funeral Service for Shirley will be held on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church (1228 South Park Ave., Neenah) with Rev. Ricky Schroeder officiating. Friends will be received on Thursday, February 11 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home, and again on Friday directly at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah. In lieu of flowers, monetary gifts are appreciated and will be donated to Alzheimer's research.
Shirley's family would like to thank the staff at Lakeshore Manor for the loving care they have given Shirley during her stay there. They treated her like she was a cherished member of their family.
