Obituary
Gary E. Lortscher, age 75 of Neenah, passed away December 8, 2016 at St. Elizabeth hospital in Appleton, WI surrounded by his family. He was born March 2, 1941 to Roland and Norma (Olson) Lortscher in Durand, WI. He graduated from Rhinelander High School and then went on to Northland College, completing his education at the College of Medical Technology in Minneapolis where he met his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia (Posel).
Gary started his professional career as a medical technologist then spent 30+ years in medical sales until he retired at age 62. He was a loving family man and a true outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and camping with his family and friends. He was an exceptional mentor to his sons and grandchildren, teaching them all he knew about sports, hunting, fishing, and life. His retirement job was with Winnebago County working the boat landings, earning him the name “Ranger Rick.” He enjoyed watching all sports, especially when it involved his three sons, grandchildren, and of course, the Packers. He was a true animal lover who enjoyed the company of his dogs and feeding birds in his backyard. He also enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking.
Together, Gary and Patti enjoyed traveling both nationally and internationally. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in a villa in Italy and enjoyed other adventures in Australia, New Zealand, and most recently in Alaska and Western Europe.
Gary will be sadly missed by his wife, Patti; his sons Loren (Amy) Lortscher, Peter (Jill) Lortscher, and Gary (Rachel) Lortscher; his grandchildren Nathaniel, Braden, Joshua, Breanna, Madison, Alex, and Jack; as well as by his sister Susan (Harrison) Stanfield and sister-in- law Anne Lortscher. He is further survived by his nieces and nephews Tanya Stanfield, Kayla (Irin) Innerfield, Stephanie Lortscher, David (Katie) Lortscher, and Deborah (Nathan) Driscoll; brother-in- law Jerry (Patti) Posel, nieces and nephew and sister-in- law Joyce Posel.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David John Lortscher.
A Memorial Mass for Gary will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Friday, December 16, 2016 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 900 Geiger St., Neenah, with Fr. Larry Seidl officiating. A visitation will be held at church from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Gary's name.
