ELANE SOMMER

Elaine M. Sommer, age 81 of Neenah, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 27, 2016. She was born February 15, 1935 to the late Henry and Marie (Kaufman) Neuman, and on September 4, 1954, she married Melvin Sommer.

Elaine spent a majority of her working career as an Administrative Assistant at Gilbert Paper in Menasha. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and was a member of Martin Luther Church in Neenah for over 50 years.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Melvin; her sons: Dean (Andrea) Sommer, and Jeffrey (Regina) Sommer; her grandchildren: Katherine (Ehsan) Bohkari; Ryan (Rachel) Sommer; Jennifer (Nathan) Hecht; and Sarah (Jay) Selle. She is further survived by her great-grandchildren: Anita Sommer; Mabel Sommer; Alana Hecht; and Talia Hecht; as well as by her sister, Verla Warren; and brother-in-law, Henry Sommer, Jr.; sisters-in-law: Orla (Steve) Tolleson; Dorothy Kester; and Lucille Marquardt; as well as by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sisters-in-law, Valeria Oppor and her husband, Clifford and Darlene Sommer; and brothers-in-law: Clifford Marquardt; Wilmar Sommer and his wife, Eugenia “Ginny;” and Earl Kester.

The Funeral Service for Elaine will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Martin Luther Church, 436 S. Lake St, Neenah, with Rev. Tyler Shinnick officiating. A visitation will be held at church from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service. She will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
