KENNETH BOWN

Kenneth G. Bown, age 70, of Neenah passed away on Friday morning, August 4, 2017 at ThedaCare Medical Center – Neenah.  He was born on October 7, 1946 in Beloit, Wisconsin son of the late Denzil L. and Mary “Emma” (Mausolf) Bown.  On October 17, 1975 he married Laura L. Kohn in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, a son, and 41 wonderful years.  Ken was employed by Great Northern Corporation on the shipping dock for 32 years, retiring in 2011.

Ken's love for God's creation and critters inspired him to walk for miles – usually with one of his four-legged friends – fish for hours, take the scenic route in his travels, and sit contentedly watching and listening to the beauty and wonders around him.  His generosity to family, friends and strangers was unsurpassed and his goodbyes always included a heartfelt “God's blessings.”

He will be forever missed and loved by his wife, Laura; his children: Melissa (Collin) Jury, Larsen; Matthew (Nicole) Bown, Wautoma; Kaleena Bown, Weyauwega; grandchildren: Kadin and Melana Jury; sisters: Hazel Hampton, Milton, WI; Martha VanderKooi, Clinton, WI; brothers: Howard Bown, Beloit, WI; Alvin Bown, Beloit, WI; Gerald (Jeannine) Bown, Janesville, WI.

The Christian Funeral Service for Ken will be held on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Luther Lutheran Church (436 S. Lake St., Neenah) with Rev. Christopher Doerr officiating.  Friends will be received on Monday directly at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service.  Ken will be laid to rest on Tuesday, August 8 at 11:00 a.m. at Eastlawn Cemetery in Beloit.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken's name may be given to Camp Phillip Camperships.
