JOHN MAYER

John Mayer died unexpectedly of a heart attack on September 2, 2017.

John was born March 23, 1951 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, son of the late Norbert and Dorothy Mayer.  He married Mary Joy Corrigan on December 29, 1973 and together they raised four children.

John graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 1973.  After working for a short time in the insurance industry, John joined Fullerton Metals in Northbrook, Illinois in 1974 and relocated his growing family to Neenah, Wisconsin in 1979.  In 1990, John started his own metal sales company, Mayer & Associates, which he successfully operated for over 27 years.

John enjoyed fishing and taking his sons on fishing trips.  He loved attending Badger and Packer football games, cooking, traveling and playing cribbage.  John especially treasured a large group of friends that he met through his long business career, his travels and his other interests.  Recently, he looked forward to spending time with his five grandchildren.

John is survived by his wife, Mary Joy, sons Brian (spouse Anneliese) grandchildren August, Greta and Axel (Chaska, MN), Bob (fiancée Katie Cardelli) (Golden, CO), Keith (spouse Anna) grandchildren Simon and Stella (Turlock, CA) and daughter Stephanie (fiancée Adam Bailey) (Flagstaff, AZ), his sister Martha (Paul) Plapp and the Plapp children and grandchildren.

Per John's wishes, there will only be a private family memorial.  The Mayer family sincerely appreciates all the memories that have been shared and support from friends during this difficult time.
