ROBERT RYAN

Robert Welch Bud Ryan, age 92, passed away at his home in Neenah with his family by his side. He was born on September 6, 1920 in Custer, WI; son of the late John and Martha (Welch) Ryan. He attended school at St. Patricks and graduated Neenah High School in 1938. Bud honorably served his country with the U.S. Navy during WWII, including the invasions of Africa, Italy and Southern France and after peace in Europe, was in the Pacific preparing for the invasion of Japan. After his military service, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was the 2nd employee of Werner Electric Supply in 1950 and worked there until his retirement in 1986. Bud enjoyed playing golf and watching the Packers. He was a member of the foundation that honored the 1000 Yard Club of the early NFL teams. Bud married Shirley Manteufel in 1951 and will be deeply missed by her and their children, John Ryan (Julia Jackson) and Teresa (Mark) Jepperson; grandchildren, Molly Ryan, Nick (Amber) Jepperson and Jake and Luke Jepperson; brother, Tom Ryan; sister-in-law, Bernice Manteufel and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Timothy and David Ryan; brothers and sisters, David Ryan, Anne (Fred) Rasmussen, Jean (Jim) Young and Pat Gilbert; and by his brothers and sisters in law, Eunice (Syl) Larsen, Orin Manteufel, Lyle Manteufel and Doris (Vernon) Kramer. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Ingold officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Military honors will follow the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the nurses, caregivers and staff of Island Shores, Neenah and Theda Care at Home Hospice for their compassionate care.
