KAREN ZACHEK

Karen Ann Zachek (nee Borchardt), Age 77, peacefully passed on to eternal life with Jesus on May 28, 2019. She was born April 30, 1942 in Milwaukee, daughter of the late Gerhard and Erna (Worm) Borchardt and she was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church.  

Karen attended Zion Lutheran School for 6 years and then graduated from Milwaukee Lutheran High School in 1960.  She married her beloved, Lee Zachek, on June 26, 1965 at Zion Lutheran Church. Karen went on the graduate from Concordia Teacher's College in River Forest, IL.   In 1991 she received her Master's Degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh. 

While living in Milwaukee she gave birth to her first son, Brian, on March 20, 1967.  Four years later her second son, Matthew, was born on January 23, 1971. Within a few years Karen and Lee brought the boys to Neenah, WI., to worship, work and raise their family.

Karen served God and His lambs for 28 years teaching various primary grades, initially at St. John's in Milwaukee but mostly at Trinity Lutheran School in Menasha, WI.  She served the Lord as a Lutheran teacher for 27 years.

She was an avid reader all of her life, often inspiring her family, friends and students to read. She was especially fond of Mystery Novels and British Mystery programs on Public television.

She loved growing flowers and cataloging her family genealogy.

She is survived by her husband, Lee Zachek; two sons:  Brian and Matthew; granddaughter, Zoey Zachek; and a brother, Roy Borchardt.
