Obituary
Theresa Ann Burns, age 52, of Neenah passed away at home with family by her side on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 following a courageous battle against colon cancer. Theresa was born on March 4, 1965 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, to Donald & Lorna Falkosky. Theresa was united in marriage with Bob Burns on September 26, 1992 and they recently celebrated 25 years together. Theresa is survived by her husband, Bob, parents Donald & Lorna, a brother Brian, and a sister Debbie. She is further survived by several aunts and uncles, her nieces and nephews, Briana Falkosky, Meghan Kerska (Jim) their children Natalie, Evelyn, and Lilyana, Abby Beck, Patrick Burns, and Sean Burns, sister in-law Kathleen Burns, brother in-law Mike Burns (Nora), and sister in-law Maureen Burns (Peter Beck) as well as many other relatives and friends, including special friend Katie Bielski-Medina, who has known Theresa since kindergarten.
Theresa graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids in 1983 where, among other things, she enjoyed her time as editor of the school yearbook, and playing flute as a member of the concert band, pep band and marching band. Theresa went on to continue her studies at UW-Whitewater where she graduated with a degree in Accounting. Theresa started her career in public accounting before moving to the private sector working for Skipper Bud's, Bergstrom, and, most recently Van's Waste, Inc. She truly enjoyed the detail work, challenges, and problem solving that came with her chosen profession.
Theresa was preceded in death by her in-laws, Jim and Margaret Ann Burns, paternal and maternal grandparents, and a maternal aunt and paternal uncle.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Theresa will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at 11:30 AM at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, 900 Geiger St, Neenah, with Fr. Larry Seidl officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Inurnment will take place at St. Margaret Cemetery in the Spring of 2018. A memorial is being established in Theresa's name.
The family would like to thank all of the medical professionals who took care of Theresa over the course of her illness, especially the CMAs, Nurses, Infusion Staff, Physicians Assistants, Dr. Vijay Chaudhary and Dr. Shannon Schmidt from the Thedacare Regional Cancer Center. We would like to say a special note of thanks to Alana Schreiber, Theresa's Cancer Navigator, for being the one constant throughout this whole journey.
