ANNELIES STOKES

Annelies Stokes, age 86, of Neenah peacefully ended her journey on this earth due to complications from cancer.  Annelies was born on January 24, 1931 in Breslau, Germany to the late Wilhelm and Elfriede Weiner.  Annelies came to the United States when she was only 19 years old.  She settled in Kaukauna where she met her husband Kenneth Stokes of 64 years.  They were married on June 6, 1953.  Annelies was a stay at home mom and loved to cook, bake, and tend to her beautiful flowers.  She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother.  We were so blessed to have her in our lives.

Annelies is survived by her husband Ken Stokes of Neenah; sister Barbara Glenzer of Essen Germany; daughter Sue (Bill) Gloede of Oshkosh; a much loved grandson Justin (Mindy) Gloede of Neenah; sisters-in-law: LaVonne Luckow and Marguerite (Wes) both of Appleton; brother-in-law Richard Stokes of Kaukauna; niece Anstrud (Udo) Amann of Lingen, Germany; nephews Jim (Peggy) Bevers, Tom (Sharon Auden) Bevers, and Benedikt Glenzer of Leesburg, VA; as well as her soon to be great-granddaughter who will be born in January. She was preceded in death by her son Mark; step-mother Elisabeth, brothers-in-law Paul Glenzer and Leslie Lockow. 

A Memorial Service for Annelies will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at First United Methodist Church, 108 W. Doty Avenue, Neenah.  Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.

The family would like to thank all the remarkable medical professionals that helped Annelies along her journey: UW Madison, ThedaCare Cancer Center, ThedaCare Regional Medical Center and hospice staff.  A special thanks to Sharon Auden, Jamie Gloede, and Kevin and Julie Nelson who are all angels.
