Obituary
Verlin Herman Tesch, of Neenah, age 84, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018, of multiple health issues. He was born October 13, 1933 in the Town of Leon, Waushara County, son of the late Albert and Emma (Kuehl) Tesch. Verlin was baptized on October 26, 1933 at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi.
Verlin started working at the Neenah Foundry on March 14, 1956. He was then drafted into the US Army and served from June 26, 1957 – July 23, 1959. Verlin was stationed at Romulus Air Force Base in New York and this is where he met his wife, Gladys Root. They were married on November 8, 1958. They moved back to Wisconsin on September 30, 1959, where he then returned to work at the Neenah Foundry. Verlin retired on January 31, 1999 after 42 plus years of employment.
Verlin enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending a lot of time at his land near Pine River. In his younger years he enjoyed bowling.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys; two sons: Rich (Jean) Tesch, Ron (Carla) Tesch; a daughter, Kathryn Tesch-Ghiz; a grandson, Josh (Steph) Tesch; a granddaughter, Brittany and her friend, Dylan Koehler; and a great-grandson, Thatcher Allan Tesch. He is further survived by a sister-in-law, Evelyn Tesch; and a brother-in-law, Ray Pokrandt.
Verlin was preceded in death by three brothers: Vernon, Valvia and Veldar Tesch; three sisters: Verona Wendt, Velda Pokrandt and Vernice Roshinko; also, brothers-in-law: Wilfred Wendt and Lyle “Smoky” Roshinko; and a son-in-law, Edward Ghiz.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 19, 2018, at Peace Lutheran Church, 1228 S. Park Ave., Neenah, with the Rev. Ricky Schroeder officiating. The visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 AM until the hour of service. Military Honors will follow with the Neenah/Menasha Veterans Honor Guard. His final resting place will at the Concordia Cemetery in West Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in his name.
The family would like to thank Dr. Goggins and his staff for their care of Verlin over the last few years. Lastly, the Tesch family would like to give a special Thank You to “Helen's House” in Appleton for the tender and loving care they provided Verlin during his final days. They provided our family with reassurance that his needs would be met and he was safe under their care.
