Obituary
Crystal A. Smith, age 77, of Neenah, passed away on Wednesday morning, January 17, 2018 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center – Neenah. She was born on July 6, 1940 in Neenah, daughter of the late Elmer W. and Gladys E. (Schoenrock) Koepke. Crystal married Thomas Volkman on June 24, 1958 and their marriage was blessed with six children and nearly 28 years before he preceded her in death on June 4, 1986. She later married John Smith on November 28, 1991, he also preceded her in death on August 27, 1992. Crystal was employed in central supply at Theda Clark Medical Center for over 25 years. She enjoyed bingo, playing slots, cards, and spending time with her beloved family.
She will be sadly missed by her children: Steven (Diana) Volkman, Neenah; Cheryl (Randy) Schwalbach, Larsen; Pamela Grant, Neenah; Kathleen (Bryan) Labby, Neenah; grandchildren: Derek Volkman, Gina (Aaron) Volkman, Andy (Marsha) Volkman, Melissa Swan, Travis Swan, Russell Cross, Michelle (Xavier) Cross, Jacob Olenski, Jordan (John) Olenski, Ted (Hannah) Labby, Casey (Kala) Labby, Nathan Labby; 12 great grandchildren and one on the way; a sister, Kathy (Jim) Meyer; sister-in-law, Elaine Koepke; brothers-in-law: Dick Volkman, Joe Ruhland, Larry Perkins; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents and her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her son, Dean Volkman; her daughter, Terri Forsythe; brother, Charles Koepke; sisters: Jerrine “Corky” Josephs, Claudia Perkins; brothers-in-law: Martin Josephs, Dennis Meyer, Sr.
A Memorial Service for Crystal will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church (140 S. Green Bay Rd., Neenah) with Rev. Robert Wilkinson officiating. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service, directly at the church. She will be laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Crystal's name.
