MARIAN RIECKMANN

Marian (McCourt) Rieckmann passed away with her children by her side on Monday, January 29, 2018. Marian was born on September 20, 1930 in Fond du Lac to Sherman and Laura (Spieckermann) McCourt. She graduated from Fond du Lac High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Oshkosh State College in 1953. She taught Kindergarten in Neenah for 2 years until her marriage to Wayne O. Rieckmann on December 19, 1954 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. They celebrated 50 years of marriage on December 19, 2004. Wayne preceded her in death in October of 2005.

After their marriage, they made their home on County II (formerly Hwy. 150) in the Town of Clayton. Marian retired in December, 1989 after working for 17 years in the office at the Larsen Cooperative, Co., Larsen. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Winchester and Rachel Circle until her retirement at which time she and Wayne moved to their former vacation home in Newald, WI. She was elected the clerk for the Town of Ross in 1993, a job she held until 1999. While in Newald she was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Laona. Marian was a member of the Ladies Aid LWML and served as president and also as secretary of the church council. She was active with the Newald Senior Citizens and Senior Snoop Shop in Crandon with her crafts.

She moved back to the Town of Menasha in 2004 and rejoined Grace Lutheran Church of Winchester. She was active in many volunteer jobs there. Marian enjoyed working as a volunteer in the gift shop at Theda Clark Medical Center and reading in the Wisconsin Bookworms program. Cooking and baking for others started early in her life. She liked doing for others in her family, church and community. Quilting, knitting and working in her flowers filled many hours. But mostly she enjoyed seeing and being with her 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She especially enjoyed their yearly family camping week in Door County.

Marian is survived by a daughter, Sheri Smolinski, Menasha; Mark (Linda) Rieckmann, Neenah; Scott (Amy) Rieckmann and Dean (Cindy) Rieckmann, both of Larsen; one brother, Charles (Ruth) McCourt, Fond du Lac; two sisters, Shirley Horning, Fond du Lac; Alice Senske, Souix City IA; ten grandchildren, Mark (Melissa) Smolinski, Michael Smolinski, Sarah (Robert) Oehldrich, Laura (Mark) Sprtel, Teresa Rieckmann, Gina (Matthew) Weklar, Kaylin (Levi) Van Stappen, Abby Rieckmann, Rebecca  Rieckmann and Allison Rieckmann; six great-grandchildren, Madeline, Emily, Alyssa and Leilah Oehldrich; Jack Sprtel and Carter Smolinski; Marian is further survived by sister-in-law Marjorie Sampson, Fremont; two brothers-in-law, Willard(Natalie) Rieckmann and Ralph Rieckmann, both Fremont; and many nieces, nephews and good friends.

A Funeral Service for Marian will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Grace Lutheran Church of Winchester, 8396 Steeple Hill Road, Larsen. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service.
