AUDREY WACHTER

Audrey J. Wachter, age 88, passed away peacefully at Lakeshore Manor, Oshkosh, on Friday, May 3, 2024. She was born May 28, 1935, in Oshkosh, daughter of the late Earl and Bernice Madison.

Audrey graduated from Oshkosh High School and then received her teaching degree from UW-Oshkosh Teacher's College. It was there that she met Frederick “Fritz” Wachter and they were married on June 25, 1960.

Audrey taught 2nd grade for 5 years in Green Bay and Appleton school districts. She loved teaching reading and phonics to the kids. Audrey enjoyed spending time with her family, trips to the cabin on Star Lake and walking her dog, Brandy.

Audrey was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church in Neenah where she taught Sunday School for 10 years, sang in their choir for 20 years, and was a member of their Alter Guild.

Audrey is survived by her husband, Fritz Wachther; two sons: Jeff (Kathy) Wachter, Rich (Shelly) Wachter; four grandchildren: Christian (Estefania)) Wachter, Karl Wachter, Ben Wachter and Amanda Wachter; and a brother, David (Judy) Madison.

Audrey was preceded in death by two sisters; Janette and Carol.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 PM, on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at Peace Lutheran Church 1228 S. Park Ave., Neenah, with Rev. Ricky Schroeder officiating.
