Obituary
Glenn Peter Francken, age 79, changed his address to his permanent home in Heaven on Saturday, March 10, 2018. He was born on April 29, 1938 to the late Herbert and Edna Francken in De Pere. Glenn attended St. Mary's in De Pere and graduated high school from St. Frances Seminary in Milwaukee. He went on to graduate from St. Norbert College and began his career. Glenn married Janet Schauer on April 8, 1961, and they were blessed with 57 years of marriage. He was the proud owner of Pierquets TV and Appliance in Green Bay, Appleton, and Sturgeon Bay. Later on in life, Glenn successfully managed Bergstrom's Saturn of Appleton for many years.
Glenn had a larger than life personality and was loved by those who knew him. He could make a friend anywhere and was truly a people person. Glenn had a great passion for sailing, especially when his entire family was able to participate. He was an avid skier who lived life to the fullest. One of his passions was being social, especially when it involved going out to dinner. Glenn had a big personality and was a joy to be around. He was a very humble man though and deeply cared about his family and friends.
Glenn is survived by his wife Janet Francken; daughters Tammy Brown and Laurie (Thomas) Och; grandchildren: Zachary, Lauren, and Catherine Brown; and Caroline and Sarah Och; as well as sisters-in-law Lois (John) Freix and Mary Callahan; and brother Richard (Barbara) Schauer. He's further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son Kevin Michael Francken, brother Thomas (Mary Claire) Francken, sister Joyce (Donald) Berglund, and infant twin granddaughters Sarah and Elizabeth Brown.
The Memorial Mass for Glenn will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at St. Joseph Parish, 404 W. Lawrence Street, Appleton with Rev. Jim Leary O.F.M. Cap. officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the mass.
Glenn's family would like to thank the nursing staff and doctors at Theda Clark, as well as the compassionate hospice nurses, for all of their wonderful care.
