LAVOHN PARKER

LaVohn "Luvy" Deforest Parker, age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 1, 2014 at Matthews House in Neenah with his loving family by his side. He was born on May 2, 1924 in Neenah; son of the late Joseph and Myrtle Parker. LaVohn honorably served his country with the U.S. Army during WWII. On December 7, 1946 he married Jean Hoeper at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Neenah. They were married 58 years before Jean preceded him in death on January 25, 2005. LaVohn was a lifelong resident of Neenah. He worked with Kimberly Clark as a truck driver until his retirement in 1983. He was a gifted craftsman; enjoyed woodworking and helping others with household repairs and helped build many homes. He loved to play golf; was an avid Packer fan, but most of all, enjoyed spending time with his family. LaVohn was also a gifted musician and singer. He was a member, along with his brothers, Emery and David, of the band The Valley Ramblers and was also a former member of the Y-Nots. He will be deeply missed by his children: Dianna (Ronald) Jansen, New London, Sandra (Robert) Sahli, Neenah, Lisa Clement, Minnesota, Jeffrey (Dana See) Parker, Fremont and Bradley Parker, Neenah; grandchildren: Steven (Amy) Beach, Randy (Stacy) Beach, Melissa (Todd) Price, Michael (Kathy) Sahli, Matthew (Becky) Sahli, Michelle (Tim) Cummings, Shan and Brandon Parker, Jacob (Briti Hetzel) and Kallie (Gustavo Aguirre) Parker; great-grandchildren, Myles and Chloe Beach, Cassidy and Mallory Price, Owen and Mason Sahli, and Austin, Skylar and Parker Cummings; brother, Emery Parker; sisters in law, Evelyn Parker and Marilyn Hoeper and brother in law, Michael (Robin) Hoeper. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jean; brother, David Parker; sister, Shirley (Gaylord) Zickert; sister in law, Dolores Parker; brothers in law, John and Richard (Joanie) Hoeper and an infant grandson, James Deforest Parker. A funeral service for LaVohn will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Menasha's Westgor Funeral Home with Chaplain Jim Wehrheim officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Full military honors will follow the service at the funeral home. Entombment will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
