Obituary
Rodney Carson Fischer of Neenah, WI, age 90, was called to his eternal life on September 25, 2026.
He was born September 10, 1936 to the late John and Agnes (Carlson) Fischer. He was raised on a farm in Elderon, WI. He attended grade school in Elderon and graduated from Wittenberg High School in 1955. He then enlisted in the Army where he served 18 months in Guam as a Deisel Mechanic. Rodney was voted “All Island” for his excellence in football while serving there. His remaining service was at Ft. Lenardwood.
Rodney joined the Neenah Police Department in 1960. He spent 13 years as a patrol office and 17 years as a Detective. He retired in 1990.
On January 20, 1968 he married his wife of 47 years, Bonnie Peterson. They enjoyed many wonderful years traveling across the country making many friends until her passing in 2015. They had five children between them.
Survivors include three children: Bret (Lisa) Fischer, Deb (Todd) Moeller, and Dana (Pat) Fischer. Grandchildren: Eric (Kayla) Fischer, Erin (Robert) Johnson, Adina (Richard) Gubbels, and Joshua Olson. Great-grandchildren: Gavin, Amelia, and Cooper Johnson and Jerico Olson. He is further survived by his loving companion and friend of 10 years, Pat Rice.
Rodney was preceded in death by his daughter Julie Olson, his son, David Peterson, brothers John (Ginny) Fischer and George (Bobbie) Bartsch, sister Dorothy (Elmer) Lunde, brother-in-law Jim Stern, mother and father-in-law Eugene and Mary Stern.
Rodney was loved very much by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held Monday October 19, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 Broad Street, Menasha, WI 54952. A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Rodney will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park of Neenah, WI.
