Obituary
Thomas W. Thomsen, age 65, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2018. He was born on May 18, 1952 to Thomas and Karen Thomsen in Madison. Tommy graduated from New Providence High School in New Jersey and went on to Ripon College and George Washington University majoring in Asian Studies and Classical Guitar. He later received his master's degree in Education from Seton Hall University. His ability to speak many languages and love for travel took Tommy around the world, at first in manufacturing-related positions and later as a teacher in London, Thailand, Harbin and Shanghai, China teaching English and English literature. Tommy also had a passion for music as a musician and singer, as well as an avid listener from Rock & Roll and Folk to Jazz and Classical music. His extensive record collection is a testimony of his love for music. When he was not living overseas or traveling he called Wisconsin home where much of his family lives. He was loved dearly by his family, and he will be missed greatly.
He is survived by his mother Karen Thomsen; siblings: John Paul (Suzanne) Thomsen, Timothy (Marcia) Thomsen, Andrew (Michelle) Thomsen, Mary (Roger) Pilecky, and Elizabeth (Bryan) Tischer; as well as nieces and nephews: Jennifer, David, Daniel, Alex, Allison, Claudia, Evan, Megan, Michael, and Anna. Tommy was preceded in death by his father Thomas Thomsen; paternal grandparents Oliver and Rigmor Thomsen; and maternal grandparents Lyal and Bernice Williams.
A visitation will be held at Menasha's Westgor Funeral Home, 1140 Appleton Road, Menasha on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are welcomed to Brewster Village, 3300 W. Brewster St. Appleton, WI 54914 and ThedaCare Hospice- ThedaCare Home Hospice Foundation, 3000 E. College Ave., Suite A, Appleton, WI 54915.
Tommy's family would like to thank the staff at Brewster Village whose special love for Tommy over his later years made his life meaningful, happy and one filled with comfort and care. Also special thanks for ThedaCare Hospice for all of their wonderful care and thoughtfulness.
