ALFRED KUCHENBECKER

Alfred P. Kuchenbecker, of Menasha, age 80, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton with his family at his side of heart complications.  If he was still here he would say it was from the “Grumsy” – this disease is not listed in any medical text books but according to him it does exist.  In addition, to his family he will be missed by his many friends young and old for the sage advice he handed out (most of it unbelievable).

Al grew up on a farm in the Town of Clayton.   He was the son of Alfred and Gertrude Kuchenbecker.  He graduated from Neenah High School in 1955 where he met his future wife Ruth.  After graduation, he became a carpenter and in 1963 he purchased Kuchenbecker Builders a family business since 1925 building custom homes.  He continued the family tradition of building quality homes until his retirement.

He married his best friend Ruth Peapenburg on November 16, 1957 and enjoyed 61 years of marriage together.   They had 3 daughters:  Ann Kuchenbecker, Menasha; Mary (Mark) Cowling, Neenah; and Amy Kuchenbecker, Suring.  Also, survived by his grandchildren: Thomas (Cassandra) Blohm, James Kuehni, Andrew Kuehni, Jacob (Natasha) Cowling, Josh (Megan) Cowling, Lt. Megan (Mike) Kuchenbecker P.A.; Brandon Moyers; and Justin (Myriah) Kuchenbecker.   A great-grandchild Grace and her mother Morgan (Brian) Ridley.  Survivors also include sisters-in-law Harriet Stache, Judy Kuchenbecker, Carolyn Peapenburg and brother-in-law Richard Peapenburg.

Preceding Al in death was grandson Kyle Blohm, brothers; Eugene and Douglas Kuchenbecker, sister-in-law Pat Peapenburg, brothers-in-law Donald Peapenburg, Robert Buchholz and Reuben Stache.

Al enjoyed spending time at his place in Suring, snowmobiling, deer hunting week, and Thanksgiving up north with his family.   He also enjoyed fishing trips to Canada, his card club in his later years, building bird houses, feeders and feeding the birds.

 The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 23, 2018, at Martin Luther Church, 436 S. Lake St., Neenah, with Rev. Jason Oakland officiating.  The visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.  In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.
