BUFFORD TEWS

Bufford “Bud” Douglas Tews, age 95, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 8, 2018.  He was born on October 3, 1922 to the late Emil and Ida (Lehman) Tews.  Bud proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was stationed in Italy from 1944 to 1946.  He married Janice Wilkes on October 17, 1953, and their marriage was blessed with four children and 54 years before she passed away in 2008.  During their marriage, they loved to travel and spend time with their family.

Bud worked at the Neenah Foundry from June of 1941 until his retirement in December of 1982.  While he worked there, he began as an apprentice and later a Journeyman Patternmaker before becoming a supervisor.  After retirement, Bud stayed active working at Appleton Patternworks, Outlook Graphics, and School Specialties.  Bud was an involved member of the community and served at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Neenah on the Church Council and the Property Committee and was an usher among other areas of service.  He also donated his time to Community Table, the Boys and Girls Brigade (over 20 years), Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, 4-H, and the PTA at Hoover School.

He is survived by his children: Ellen Tews, the Rev. Karen Tews, Jody Tews, and Jeff Tews; grandchildren, Emily Tews and Grace Tews; sister, Phyllis Kirschenlore; sister-in-law Gert Wilkes; as well as other family members.  Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Tews; siblings: Earl Tews, Calvin Tews, Irvin Tews, and an infant sister.

The Funeral Service for Bud will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 200 N. Commercial Street, Neenah.  Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.  A memorial fund will be established.
