ETOLA PINGEL
December 19, 1932 - December 09, 2023
Obituary
Etola D. Pingel, age 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2023. She was born on December 19, 1932, to the late Andrew and Delphine Heider. Etola married Lyle Pingel on August 11, 1951, and they were blessed with seven children. She worked for the phone company for many years until her retirement. Etola was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Wisconsin Veteran's Home in King. She truly enjoyed volunteering at the veteran's home with Lyle. They each had recorded thousands of hours of volunteer time over the years.
Etola was very skillful with a needle and enjoyed doing hand embroidery. She had a great sense of humor and appreciated a good practical joke. She was a very sociable person who loved visiting with people and doing jigsaw puzzles. Etola loved a fire. Burning leaves in the fall. Gathering twigs and wood as she never saw a piece of dead wood that she didn't want to burn. There was a fire pit at the beach and a fire mound in the back yard. She had the unique ability to make an impression on anyone. If you spent enough time around Etola, you were usually left with an entertaining story.
Etola is survived by her children Lyle (Mary) Pingel, Jr., Linda Pingel, Laureen Johnson, LaDonna (Randy Olson) Pingel, Lane (Renee Bisner) Pingel, and Loren (Vicki) Pingel; grandchildren: Jeremy (Stephanie) Pingel, Josh Pingel, Michelle (Mike) Hanneman, Melissa (Adam) Iverson, Nathan Pingel, Nicole Pingel, Blake Pingel, Kayleigh Pingel, Ryan (Danielle Schlafer) Plank, Holly (Jason) Rioux, Adam (Ashley DiLuzio) Bisner, and Tyler Vander Bloemen; great-grandchildren: Dominic Pingel, Mike Hanneman, Olivia Hanneman, Aiden Iverson, Jack Pingel, Etta Pingel, Dante Morin, Trinity Hoffman, Braeden Olson, Joshua Pingel, Jayvin Pingel, Donovan Pingel, Cameron Iverson, Elizabeth Schlafer, Colton Plank, Alex Treichel; great-great-granddaughter Serena Hoffman; as well as her sister, Maureen.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Lyle Pingel, Sr.; son, Jeff Pingel; granddaughter, Jessica Coleman; great-granddaughter, Madelyn Iverson; siblings: Eleanor Campbell, Beverly Kuich, Andrew Lee Heider, and Darlene Heider; sisters-in-law, Virginia Jury and Bernice Bondow; brothers-in-law, John Pingel, Russell Pingel, and Wayne Pingel; daughter-in-law, Joyce Pingel; and son-in-law, Russ Johnson.
The memorial service for Etola will be held at 5:00 pm on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home, 205 W. Doty Avenue. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home from 3:00 pm until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.
Etola's family would like to give a sincere thank you to the staff and residents on the first floor of Ainsworth Hall at the Wisconsin Veteran's Home in King. Their kindness and companionship was truly appreciated.
