DORTHEA LITTLEFIELD

Alice Van Housen Littlefield, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018.  She was born June 20, 1929, in Appleton, daughter of the late Corwin “Van” and Dorothea “Toots” Van Housen.  Alice attended school in Appleton and graduated High School in 1947.  She went on to Grinnell College in Iowa and then graduated from Lawrence College in Appleton in 1951.

Alice married Charles A. Littlefield on June 20, 1953.  They lived in Madison while he attended Law School and then they made their home in Neenah.  He preceded her in death in 2007. 

Alice was an active member of Faith United Methodist Church of Neenah.  She and Charles hosted their Agape group in their home for over 40 years.  This group had a special place in her heart.  Music and the Neenah Community Band were also an important part of her life where she was a percussionist and served on the Steering Committee well into her 80's. 

Alice was best known for her holiday coffee cakes, making and delivering about 30 each year.  She also made hundreds of cookies to share with family and friends.  Alice was also known for her beautiful hand knit sweaters and caps.  There are 100's of beautiful baby sweaters out there.  She loved making crafts many of which were made for the shut-ins at her church.

Alice had many jobs in her life.  She worked at Theda Clark Hospital, Littlefield Law Office, and drove school bus for Kobussen for 20 years, but her favorite one was caring for her grandchildren.

She is survived by her three children: Suzanne (Harry Siegrist) Littlefield, Atlanta, GA, Dawn (Jim) Stone, Grand Marsh, WI, Chuck (Peggy) Littlefield Jr., Neenah, WI; her five grandchildren: Andrew, Zeke, Becca, Wyatt and Harrison; and great-grandchildren: Mari, Reagan, Carson, Cara, and one on the way.  Alice if further survived by her brother, Thomas Corwin Van Housen, MN and sister, Barb (Pete) Skaer, Appleton, WI.    

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at Faith United Methodist Church, 1025 Tullar Rd., Neenah, with Rev. Tim Albrecht officiating, with a luncheon and memory sharing to follow.  The visitation will be held at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park in Appleton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Boys' and Girls' Brigade, Rawhide, Faith United Methodist Church, St Jude's, the Neenah Community Band or any charity of your choice.

The family would like to thank Mom's special caregiver, Cindy, ThedaCare Hospice, as well as the staff at the Valley VNA, for all their wonderful care.
