Obituary
Darlene G. Hanson, age 86, of Neenah (formerly of Fond du Lac), passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at the Valley VNA where she resided for the last 3 years. Darlene was born on February 15, 1935, in Kingsford, Michigan to the late Victor and Leona (Ellis) Charrier. She married Roy L. (“Stub”) Hanson on February 16, 1957, in Neenah and enjoyed 52 years of marriage until his death in July of 2009.
Darlene enjoyed the many years she and Roy spent with their family and friends at their cottage on Big Lake in Gresham, Wisconsin; wintering in Mesa, Arizona for a number of years; traveling; trips to the casino; and watching football, especially the Packers. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Darlene's working career included time spent at Kimberly-Clark, Valley Maintenance Service, and Norman Brothers in Neenah and as the deputy registrar in the health department for the City of Fond du Lac. She retired in 1991.
Darlene is survived by her children: Corky (Brian) Bartelt, Fond du Lac; Tim (Judy) Hanson, Fond du Lac; Barb (Dan) Jensen, Menasha; and Missy (Jim) Grones, Appleton. She is further survived by eight grandchildren and their families: Jenny (Cedric) McFadden (Callie); Shawn (Lindsay) Bartelt (Elin and Lucie); A.J. (Abby) Hanson (Teagan and Fiona); Parker (Jackie) Hanson (Peyton); Taylor and Ryan (Meghan Demianiuk) Jensen; Justin (Ashley) Grones (Sadie and Ian); and Lindsey (Cody) Artymiuk (baby due in March); her sister, Marcie (Paul) DeBruin; her sister-in-law, Audre Hanson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Darlene was preceded in death by her husband Roy; her two brothers and their wives: Bob (Lorraine) Haddock and John “Jack” (Ann) Ellis; brothers-in-law Eugene Hanson and Tom Hanson; her parents, and her parents-in-law, Frederick and Loretta Hanson.
A celebration of Darlene's life will be held at a later date with interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Menasha.
