JOAN HENDERSON

On Friday, February 1, 2019, Joan Evelyn Henderson, loving wife and mother of two, passed away at age 77.

 Joan was born on January 24 in East Peoria, Illinois to Joe and Charlesa Dray. She graduated from East Peoria High School in 1960. She was employed and trained as a toll operator for AT&T. On June 23, 1963, she married Richard Henderson. They began their family with a daughter, Kelly Henderson and a son, Jeffrey Henderson.

The family relocated to Neenah, Wisconsin in 1970. Joan immediately immersed herself into the community. Joan led and chaired several church committees including the Old World Christmas Dinner. She was an elder of the church and member of the chancel choir and hand bell choir. She was fiercely protective of her family, a loyal friend and the first to welcome new comers. Joan was a true volunteer extraordinaire. She had a passion for cooking. Her pies were legendary, especially, her beautiful lemon meringue. They sold out before even getting to the table for sale. She was an avid reader and music lover. She joined Coldwell Banker in Neenah as a realtor in 1990 and was consistently recognized as a high performer. Joan was known for her infectious smile, her kind and compassionate spirit and for instilling in her kids the will to never give up.

 Joan was preceded in death by her father, Joe, her mother, Charlesa and her brother-in-law Thomas Ringel. She is survived by her husband Dick, her two children, Kelly and Jeff, her son-in-law David Cantrill, her sister Patricia Dray, her sister-in-law Gloria Ringel and several cousins, nephews and nieces

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 9th, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church, 200 S. Church Street, Neenah, Wisconsin. A visitation will be held at church from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service. Please consider a donation to the Fox Valley Memory Project in Joan's name. Information will be available at church.
