JEAN SWAYNE

Jean M. Swayne, age 90 of Neenah, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Island Shores Retirement Community in Neenah.  Jean was born on August 2, 1928 at the family farm in Eldred, MN to the late Luther Smith McWIlliams and Mary Bell Ingraham. Jean and her twin sister, Joyce Abel, were the youngest of ten children. She attended elementary school in Eldred and graduated from Climax High School in June of 1946. She then attended the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis St. Paul graduating with a degree in home economics in June of 1950. While at the university, she met her husband Robert (Bob) E. Swayne. They married in Minneapolis on June 30, 1950 at the University Lutheran Chapel.

Jean worked as an active volunteer for her church, Hmong refugees, and the St. Joseph Food Program. Jean and Robert volunteered for over twenty years at St. Joseph's. Jean taught cooking classes at Fox Valley Technical College for several years. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, as well as an expert home cook and baker. Her Christmas cookies were second to none!!!

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, four brothers and her loving husband Bob of almost 64 years (2014). She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanie and Stan Feavel of Appleton, Carol Swayne and Guy Hollingbury of Seattle, Washington, her son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Andrea Swayne of San Clemente, California, and her beloved granddaughter, Madison Swayne, and her fiancé Christoph Efstathiou of Los Angeles, California.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1140 Tullar Road, Neenah. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by a luncheon.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for St. Joseph's Food Program.

The Swayne family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to the staff at Island Shores, Valley VNA, Theda Care Hospice, Dr. Lee Vogel, and Dr. Desirae Budi. The family would also like to thank our friends for their support and prayers during this difficult time, as well as Pastors Jon and Tabitha Gallatin and the members at Gloria Dei.
