MARGARET SCHMIDT

Margaret E. “Maggie” Schmidt, age 89, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, October 8, 2018.  She was born April 15, 1929 in Appleton, daughter of the late Henry and Erna (Lowe) Samson.

Maggie married Fred Schmidt on November 24, 1950 in Dubuque, Iowa.  The couple would later renew their vows at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Neenah.  Their marriage was blessed with three daughters, two sons, and 67 wonderful years. Fred preceded her in death on January 4, 2018.

Maggie was known as a baker of lots of cookies.  She also made a wonderful banana bread and loved telling a good story.  She enjoyed swimming, camping and traveling. She also liked watching birds at her feeder and putting together puzzles.

Survivors include her daughters: Susan Morse, Waupaca; Laurie (Dennis) Baumann, DePere; RaeLynn (Bob) Pansy, Neenah; her sons: Rob (Teri) Schmidt, Neenah; Paul (JoAnn) Schmidt, Elkhorn, WI; her grandchildren: Brad, Chad, Zach, Danielle, Tricia, Josh, Andy, Amy, Brian, Allison; 10 great grandchildren: Brody, Nolan, Kaleb, Reid, Silverius, William, Nicholas, Anna, Jace, and Colton.

Maggie was preceded in death by two sisters: Mary Ellen Murphy, Janette Holmes; a brother, George Samson; and a son-in-law, Steve Morse.

The Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church 660 Division St., Neenah, with Fr. Dennis Bergsbaken officiating.  The visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in Maggie's name for St. Margaret Mary Parish.
