Obituary

It is with sadness (for us) and joy (for her) that we announce the passing of Doris Joanne Davis (nee Springer) from this life into the presence of her Savior on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at Brewster Village in Appleton, WI after a brief illness. Born in Bangor, ME, Dodie was the middle of 3 girls, and daughter of a pastor. For the past 8 years, she happily made her home in Menasha, WI.  When asked where she was from, she noted hailing from Maine, New York, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Illinois, and Minnesota: all places she called home throughout her life.  She was an adventurous world traveler having visited Central America, Asia, and the United Kingdom on mission-oriented trips.

Her life was marked by a love of teaching, both children and adults. She excelled at storytelling and always had a story ready for anyone who wanted to listen. Dodie loved to tell the story of Jesus and used her gift of teaching and storytelling to tell of His saving grace offered freely to anyone who believes.

She often said she was a “people-person” and her testimony of that is the long-lasting friendships she built which spanned all ages, cultures, and time. She loved deeply and was deeply loved in return. She was never happier than when surrounded by any or all of her family.

Dodie is survived by her 3 daughters: Julie (Joe) Bechtold, Dawn (Dave) Chauvette, Bonnie (Kerrick) Gunelius; 6 grandchildren: Heather (Alex) Walburg, MaryRose (Joel) Widmer, Alicia (Theo) Rothstein, Andrea (Jeremy) Durelle, Kristen (Joel) Anderson, and Steven Chauvette; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Carolyn Nordquist; three nieces: Debie (Curtis) Sergeant, Annette (Ed) Strausser, Amy (Alan) Muia and nephew Brent (Beth) Nordquist.  She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Kristy Jean Iaffaldano, parents Byrd C. Springer and Mary (Snapp) Springer, sister Joyce Bowser, and brothers-in-law Paul Bowser and John Nordquist.

A funeral service for Dodie will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, September 25, 2026 at Calvary Bible Church, 1450 Oakridge Rd., Neenah. A visitation will be held at church from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of service. Dodie will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah.

In honor of Dodie, the family has created a GoFundMe site (https://gofund.me/1c5de2f79) which will be used to cover funeral expenses
