Obituary

Marilyn A. Borchardt, age 84, passed away Saturday morning, April 22, 2023 at Peabody Manor. She was born in the Town of West Bloomfield, WI on January 4, 1939, daughter of the late Earl “Butch” and Esther Zabel. She married the love of her life, Arden Borchardt on September 16, 1961 at Christ Lutheran Church in West Bloomfield. They moved to Appleton and then settled in Neenah where they raised their daughters.

Marilyn enjoyed traveling, playing cards, reading, feeding and watching birds, and gardening. However, her happiest times were spent with her family. She truly loved spending time with her grandchildren. One of their favorite things to do was to go apple picking in the fall. She also enjoyed exercising and chatting with her friends at the Senior Center in Menasha. Marilyn was always helping others by volunteering at the church and Marvin's Garden or just listening to you when you needed to talk. She made a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Arden Borchardt of Neenah; daughters Dawn DuCharme of McAllen, TX, Teresa (Michael) Quimby of Neenah, and Kelly Tisler of Brillion; grandchildren Lance, Justine, and Kaitlin of Brillion; along with siblings Joyce Zabel of Madison and Steven (Teresa) Zabel of Weyauwega. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Diana, and brothers Dennis (Judy) Zabel and Howard Zabel.

Marilyn's family will be honoring her wishes by having a private funeral. They only ask for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations to Trinity Lutheran Church, 407 Oak Street, Neenah, WI 54956 are appreciated.

The family of Marilyn would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Peabody Manor and ThedaCare Hospice for the compassionate care given.

Lynn has more memories of Marilyn than her daughter (Ashley Bower), yet Lynn kept me (Ashley) updated and showed a glimpse of her love and light. What a delightful soul that we must show in our lives and love in our hearts.

That’s a beautiful picture of Marilyn.  That smile of hers makes people want to smile too.  I will miss seeing her at Trinity and at the Menasha Senior Center.  During exercises Marilyn would always concentrate so hard, she’d hold her breath.  I was always telling her to ‘breathe’. It was a joke between us. Marilyn was such a sweet, kind woman. I pray your happy memories will help you through this difficult time. 🙏

I am so honored to have an aunt as great as my Aunt Marilyn.she truly has been an inspiration to me.and kinda like a mother when mine has passed.she has always been there to listen and any input has been for the good.I willmiss her much more than I can say.
