WAYNE MCDONALD

Wayne D. McDonald, age 97, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at Matthews Senior Living.  He was born September 13, 1923 in Oshkosh, son of the late Walter and Ruby Enos McDonald. 

After graduating from Oshkosh High School, he enlisted in the US Army Air Force during WWII where he was trained as an aircraft welder, a trade he continued through his work career until his retirement.

Wayne married Elaine Janke on June 15, 1946. The love of his life preceded him in death on January 25, 2013.  Together Wayne and Elaine enjoyed traveling the world, camping, and dancing with their friends. He was most proud of his family, and was a loving and attentive Grandpa to his grandchildren.  In 2011 he was blessed to travel with The Old Glory Honor Flight on their inaugural trip to the WWII Memorial in Washington DC. He spent his final years at Matthews Senior Living enjoying the friendship and attention from the residents and staff. 

Survivors include his four children: Dorothy (Greg) Scovronski, Donna (Tom) Mills, Douglas (Joan) McDonald, Duane (Carrie) McDonald; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Wayne was preceded in death by a grandson, James McDonald; two brothers and one sister.

A private funeral with Military Honors will be held for the family.  In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in his name.  Our family would like to thank the staff at Matthews Senior Living for their care, companionship, and love for our dad.
