DAVID SOMMER

David B. Sommer, age 78, passed away suddenly on Friday, February 28, 2020 after fighting a courageous battle against many health issues.  He was born May 20, 1941 in Neenah, son of the late Sylvan and Muriel (Skafte) Sommer.

David graduated from Neenah High School with the class of 1959.  He served in the US Army National Guard and was stationed in Tacoma, WA.  He also served as a Sunday school teacher at his church. David started his professional career working with his father in Residential Real Estate earning accolades as one of Neenah's top realtors.  He later owned and operated Executive Construction until 1990.  After that, he worked in site acquisitions for Telecommunications.

David loved sports. He played football and basketball in high school. He later played football with the Jersild Saints in Neenah and continued playing basketball in a church league. He was an avid Packer fan.

David enjoyed pheasant hunting, hunting ducks at the Black Slough in Shiocton and deer hunting up north. He loved spending time at his parent's cottage on the Oconto River, father-in- law's cottage on Lake Poygan and on Arbutus Lake with Sherry. In his later years he enjoyed taking care of “Lazy Daisy”, his favorite dog. 

Survivors include his two sons: Scott Sommer, Jeff (Cherrieanna) Sommer; four grandchildren: Scott, Cassandra, McKenzie and Hunter; his former wife, Pat Schramm; his aunt, Mona Oskar; and his special friend, Sherry Schrank; Sherry's children: Kari and Jennifer and her grandchildren Rick and Taylor.

David was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Sommer; his in-laws, Milton and Sally Williams; his brother-in-law, Dick Williams, and Sherry's grandson, Tyler.

A Private Service was held for family and close friends. 

The family would like to thank the staff of the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King and also Dr. Timothy Mologne for their care and compassion.

David's memory will live forever in our hearts and may he rest in PEACE!!!
