James A. Pergolski (Pops Jim), Neenah passed away Monday, April 25, 2022 at Parkview Health Center after a 10 year battle with dementia.
He was born May 30, 1945 in Wausau, son of the late Edwin and Lucille (Barden) Pergolski. Jim graduated from Wausau High School in 1963. On August 7, 1965 he married Catherine Pergolski (Vachowiak) at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Wausau. She survives.
Jim served 6 years in the Army National Guard. He spent the rest of his career in the construction industry starting at Wausau Homes and finishing as the owner of an HVAC contracting firm. He enjoyed hunting, watching football and hockey, shopping for antiques, and being a handyman for family and friends.
His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and Jim held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren Bella Orozco, Chetek, Emma and Chloe Pergolski, Milwaukee, Owen Pergolski, Neenah, Alex and Zachary Freund, Neenah and his nephew Sam Swetlik, Oshkosh.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Pergolski, of Neenah, his daughters, Sara Pergolski-Mickelson (Bruce), of Appleton, and Martha Freund-Harmon (Jason), of Neenah, his son, Jeff Pergolski, of Neenah, brothers Robert (Bonnie) of Wausau, George (Liz) of Weston, Donald of Nevada, his sisters, Joanne (Jerry) Lang, Colleen (John) Stillwell, both of Wausau, Mary (Ralph) Henry, Tina Walters, both of Ypsilanti, MI, Sandra Daroci of Belleville, MI, sister-in-law Anne Swetlik, of Neenah, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Edwin Pergolski Jr, John Pergolski, and Richard Pergolski, sisters, Lois Luedtke, Louise Pergolski, Patricia Pergolski and Peggie Bartz.
The memorial mass for Jim will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 900 Geiger Street, Neenah. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:30 am until the time of the service.
