KENNETH BERNDT

“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you….” Philippians 1:6. Pastor Kenneth Jacob Berndt “Ken”, age 80, had strong faith in God's power as reflected in his most cherished Bible verse, and lived according to its promise until the night of his passing on March 12th, 2020 at his home in Neenah. In his final days surrounded by loved ones, he repeated the phrase, “Live for Jesus”, confidently serving his Lord until the end.

Ken was born on January 25th, 1940 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, where he was raised along with his two older sisters. Ken attended Oshkosh High and The University of Wisconsin at Stout. At age 19, Ken placed his faith in Jesus Christ, and his life was changed forevermore. He then met his wife Lillian, and the two married and began a life together, creating four children. Ken held a passion for ministry throughout his life; as a layman, Ken worked behind the scenes, aiding pastors and dedicating time to the church. He also worked honorably in the private sector for 30 years until God placed a calling on his heart to become a Full Gospel pastor. He was ordained in 1994, becoming pastor of Interfaith Christian Assembly located in Neenah where he functioned as senior pastor faithfully until the end. Ken's life was filled with a fervent passion to spread the full gospel of Jesus Christ, unceasingly. He labored faithfully as a steward of Christ, putting the Lord first in all he did while displaying Christ's love to all he encountered. Genuine patience, compassion, and a tender heart were key characteristics used to describe him, though he dutifully gave all credit to the Lord. He is remembered through his comforting hugs, loving words of wisdom, and selfless works of kindness and generosity.

Ken is survived by his wife Lillian, and his three children, Tamara, Troy, and Tricia, and his seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. His first son Timothy went to be with the Lord in 2018. With great joy we surely know the Lord Jesus Christ was faithful to his word: “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you….will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” Philippians 1:6.

The Funeral Service is being planned for April and will be announced at that time.  In lieu of flowers a memorial is established where the funds will purchase individual bibles given to third world full gospel pastors who only possess fragments of the bible.
