ALAN PHEIFER

Alan James Pheifer, age 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 11, 2021.  He was born December 6, 1929 in Wausau, Wisconsin, son of the late Leonard and Pearl (Ramaker) Pheifer.

Alan graduated from Neenah High School in 1948, as an all-conference defensive end.  He served in the US Army at Fort Benning, followed by four years of service in the Army Reserve.

Alan married Patricia Richards on August 28, 1952 and they celebrated 68 years of marriage together, during which they travelled to Belize and Costa Rica.  Alan's faith was very important to him, and he lived each day for the Lord. He treasured his family and the time they spent together.  Alan started working as a home builder and years later he and his brother started Pheifer Brothers Construction Company, building bridges all over the state of Wisconsin.  He was a hard worker, always eager to share his knowledge of construction. He was proud of his job in Omro that was awarded bridge of the year in 1971. He retired from the business in 1994, but never lost his interest in jobs being bid and built.  After his retirement he kept busy by doing carpentry work, planting prairies, and being involved in managed forestation.  He spent a lot of time at their cottage on the Chain of Lakes in Waupaca, WI and at the Al Pheifer Family Woodlands in Scandinavia, WI.  There he made many memories of boating, fishing and hunting with the Grandchildren. 

Survivors include his wife, Patricia; five sons: Dave (Cindy)  Pheifer, Neenah, WI, Clifford(Deborah) Pheifer, Kaukauna, WI, Mike (Mona) Pheifer, Neenah, WI, Keith (Paula) Pheifer, Boulevard, CA, Curt (Cindy) Pheifer; Fremont, WI, 13 grandchildren: Jason Pheifer, Shawn (Natalie) Pheifer, Justin Pheifer, Jason Lockery, Rebecca Pheifer, Ryan (Amber) Pheifer, Ashley (Luke) Herriges, Tonya (Gedeon) Dansi, Ian Pheifer, Dylan Pheifer, Kyle (Leanne) Pheifer, Sara (Bryan) Klepzig, Jana Pheifer; 9 great-grandchildren: Maddison, Lyanna, Jackson, Mason, AJ, Raegann, Peyton, Quinn, Waylon; a brother, Bob (LaVerne) Pheifer; and a sister, Marcia Westwater.

Alan was preceded in death by three sisters, Joyce Ficher, Kathryn Votava, and Phyllis Bogart.

An open visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home. A private family service will be held at 1:00 PM and live streamed at the facebook page for Westgor Funeral Homes.   Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in his name.
