RALPH MARTENS

Ralph O. Martens, age 91, peacefully entered his Lord's presence on Thursday, November 5, 2020.  He was born on August 5, 1929 to the late Ralph H. and Elsie (Janssen) Martens.

Ralph grew up in Neenah where he graduated from Neenah High School. During his school years he worked setting bowling pins and as a golf caddy. He then served his Country in the United States Army, a Veteran of the Korean War. He was a paratrooper attached to the RAKKASAN Battalion, 187th airborne where he made two combat jumps. Ralph went on to work as a machine (drier) operator for a dairy plant and later retired in 1993 from Wisconsin Dairies in Appleton. He married his wife of 60 years, Mildred Ritchie, on August 20, 1960 and was a very faithful and caring husband.  In retirement Ralph enjoyed visiting the zoo, trips to the park, time spent with family, jigsaw puzzles, Monopoly, and cheeseburgers. He was a member of the American Legion Post 38, Veteran of Foreign War Post 8642, and a life member of both the 11th Airborne and Rakkasans 187th ARCT. 

Ralph's Christian faith was central to his life. He served the Lord for many years as a Sunday School teacher, usher, church board member, and boys sports ministry leader. He was a genuine example of a true Christian, devoted husband, and loving father. Many lives were impacted by his faithfulness of how he followed in His Savior's steps. 

He is survived by his wife; Mildred, a daughter; Lynda (Mark) Wiedenhaupt, sister-in-law; Hilda Seneriz, three nieces; Julie(Glen), Deborah, Ivelisse, a special cousin; Patty, and numerous cousins. 

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, a brother; Karl, an infant brother; Robert, and a niece; Kathleen.

A private family service will be held at Westgor Funeral Home with interment in Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah.  Pastor John Kieffer is officiating.
