WILLIAM JACOBSEN

William Harold Jacobsen, age 72, passed away on December 16, 2020, at his home in Scandinavia, Wisconsin. “Bill” was born on December 2, 1948, in Neenah, Wisconsin, son of the late Harold Nels and Shirley Ann (Teske) Jacobsen.  Bill grew up on the Jacobsen family's dairy farm, graduated from Neenah High School Class of ‘67, and studied Art, Architectural Design, and Business Management.   

He married Darlene Schmidlkofer on May 11, 1973. They loved photography, bowling, the great outdoors, hiking and camping. His favorite area was Virginia's Historic Triangle with colonial living history museums and ships rolling on the sea.  Their 23 years together abruptly ended when Darlene became ill and passed in July, 1996.  Resiliently, Bill completed the home on their little plot and decorated it with Darlene's beautiful “Stitchery”. He could return to his creative roots.    

William filtered the world with an Artist's eye; Seeing beauty in detail or movement, he cast it to permanence with pen, paint and patience. He carefully crafted tiny figurines, realistic model train boards, replica sailboats and gallant ships. He composed large portraits in oils and acrylic. He also designed marketing materials and signs for businesses. He participated in several model train groups. With his cute companion dog Bailey, he volunteered many hours at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King. He aspired to Deacon at Hope United Church of Christ, Fremont, and also worshiped many years at Scandinavia Lutheran Church. He will be greatly missed.   

William is survived by his 3 Sisters: Annie Jacobsen Checotah of Oklahoma, Pamela Jacobsen Campbell of Cozumel, Mexico and Kimberly Jacobsen of Hortonville. Numerous much-loved nieces, nephews and friends.  

Bill is preceded in death by his beloved wife Darlene, loyal dog Bailey, both parents, Harold and Shirley, and brother Jeffery.  

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home, 205 W. Doty Avenue, Neenah. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the hour of the service. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed on the funeral home's Facebook page. Bill will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
