PAUL KEYES

Paul R. Keyes, age 60, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on Tuesday, December 22, 2020.  He was born April 21, 1960 in Neenah, son of the late Richard and Audrey (Myhre) Keyes.  

Paul graduated from Neenah High School in 1978.  He then entered the US Navy and served for four years and then in the Navy Reserves.  Paul then returned home and began his career in plumbing joining the family business, Keyes & Sons Plumbing of Neenah.  He completed his apprenticeship and then became a Master Plumber.  

Paul married Rhonda Grimes on September 11, 1993.  Paul was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed all things in regard to hunting, fishing, golfing and gardening among many other activities.  The family cottage was his place to do many of these activities with family and friends. Paul was known as “Mr. Fix It” as he was loved by many customers because of his attention to detail and making sure the job got done right.  He also was a big people person and made friends with almost anyone he met. Paul told many great stories of his life experiences. He was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church of Winchester and did a lot of work for the church to keep it running. Paul was a wonderful father and husband and loved his girls so much. He loved to talk about them and their accomplishments that they had made so far in their lives. Unknown to many people, Paul was sometimes a kid at heart and would enjoy being goofy with his family. Paul was also a BIG movie buff and enjoyed watching old Westerns with John Wayne along with any Indiana Jones or any action movie. He also loved cooking for people as well as eating good food, and was known to say that “good food is good health”.

Survivors include his wife, Rhonda; two daughters: Reilly Keyes and Caitlyn Keyes; two brothers: Glenn Keyes, Brian Keyes; four sisters: Dawn Gallagher and fiancé, Don Hudson, Lynn Keyes, Susan (Dale) DeRuyter, Kay (Doug) Keyes-Farrar; sister-in-law, Cindy Keyes; father and mother-in-law: Jim Grimes, Karen (Jack) Cronce; brother-in-law, Jim (Denise) Grimes; nieces and nephews: Meredith (Odie) Wilkerson, Matthew (Akiko Noguchi) Keyes, Lauren Nelsen, Preston and Carson Nelsen, Sarah (Jon) Hodkiewicz, Christopher (Ashley) Keyes, Rebecca (Lee) Joniaux, Erica (Travis) Thatcher, Benjamin Bavinck, Ian and Sean Farrar, Kian Grimes, and Hayley Schueler; and many other great nieces and nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Keyes, a sister-in-law, Janet Keyes, father and mother, Richard and Audrey Keyes, and a favorite aunt, Marlene Schafer, along with other aunts and uncles.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Paul and his mother, Audrey, on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Washington Park, 631 W. Winneconne Ave., Neenah, from 11:00AM to 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.
