LORI SCRUTON

Lori (Metz) Scruton passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021 after a courageous and tenacious battle with cancer. Born on July 12, 1964, to Robert and Bonnie (Vanden Broek) Metz of Neenah Wisconsin, she graduated from Neenah High School and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater where she was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority. She worked for over twenty years at Plexus Corporation in Neenah most recently with the Information Technology group. 

Lori relished experimenting in the kitchen and frequently adapted new recipes with a nice glass of wine. She had a zealous love of Door County and the friends she traveled with.  She was passionate about the Green Bay Packers and was always excited to attend games.  Being a self-taught crafting enthusiast led to scheduled monthly get-togethers with her friends to exchange ideas.  She shared the love of music with those around her and encouraged others to patron the PAC with her. Sitting around the cribbage board with her dad and daughters was a holiday tradition.  Lori celebrated the community in which she lived and loved the concerts, parades, and community fests.

She is survived by her daughters Mikayla and Julia as well as her father Robert Metz; brother Todd Metz (Heather); her sister of the heart LeAnn Hoffmann; as well as her aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces; many, many friends; her church family; her work family, and Frankel (her snuggly cat).

Lori was preceded in death by her mother Bonnie Metz; Uncle Clarence Fredrick; cousin Dave Fredrick; and Rick Scruton with whom she lovingly shared their girls.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lungevity (https://lungevity.org/for-supporters-advocates/support-our-work ).  She was a passionate advocate for lung cancer awareness and worked to reduce the stigma that it is only a smoking disease.  With Lungevity, she was able to speak about the disease, help organize conferences, and support and receive support from those also fighting.

A private memorial service will be held at Peace Lutheran Church in Neenah. To view the service, please visit the Westgor Funeral Home's Facebook page beginning on Friday, January 15, 2021 at noon. Lori will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Neenah. A celebration of life for the public will be planned for a later date.
