Obituary
Jackie Schmidt, nee Hansford, died peacefully with her family at her side on January 5, 2021. She was born in Green Bay, WI and was the daughter of the late Norbert and La Verne (Bringe) Hansford. She graduated from Green Bay West High School and worked for Fort Howard Paper Company. On September 24, 1960, she married the late Paul Schmidt. After her children were in middle school, she worked for the Neenah Joint School District in the kindergarten room. Jackie's family was always her number one priority and she enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them. Her determination, passion for life and ability to get along with people were some of her many strong qualities.
She is survived by her three daughters: Mary Kay (Joe) Carr, Holly Schmidt and Heather (Sy) Stevens; and her grandchildren, Megan and Jenna Carr, and Tanner Stevens. She is further survived by her sister, Marlene (Clarence) Massey; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Rehfeldt and Aggie Smarzinski; and nieces and nephews: Mark (Chris) Massey, Candy (Tony) Weslow, Peggy (Chris) Campbell, Sharie (Rob) Demro, Carol Ann (Ed) Goeden, Kay (Lewie) Bellile, Joan (Doug) Terrell, Mary Jo (Tim) Sullivan, Susan (Chris) Crosby, Barb (Larry) Mauthe, Jeff (Donna) Schmidt, Adelle Stein, Steve (Jean) Jacob, Karen (Roger) Byer, Gary (Pat) Jacob, Glen Jacob, Robert Jacob, David (Marge) Rehfeldt, Jean (Erwin) Polenz, Laura (Jim) Michener, Jim Rehfeldt, Lisa (Lenny) Portelli. She is further survived by many great nieces, great nephews, and friends. She shared a special bond with her great nephews: Ryan, Josh and Aaron Campbell, and Zachary Demro.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Paul; son, Michael; parents, Norbert and La Verne; in-laws, Catherine and Julius; sister, Sharon (Gary) Van Straten; brothers and sisters-in law: George (Vita) Schmidt, Marian (Art) Schmidt, Julius (Eve) Schmidt, Florian (Donna) Schmidt, Leander Schmidt, Madella (Steve) Jacob, and Ewald Rehfledt.
Private services will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jackie's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
