EMORY ELBE

Emory J. Elbe, age 64, passed away at home unexpectedly due to heart failure on Monday, January 11, 2021.  He was born on November 11, 1956 in Green Bay, son of the late Emory and Carole (Sigl) Elbe.

Emory married Paula Fuhrmann on November 28, 1981.

Survivors include his wife, Paula; three children: Emory T. Elbe and his fiancé, Amy Wiltzius, Tanya Elbe, Alexander Elbe; his sister, Donna Smith; three brothers: Thomas (Cheryl) Elbe, Joseph (Julie) Elbe, Paul (Kathy) Elbe; along with many nieces and nephews.

Following graduation from Neenah High School, Em enlisted in the United States Navy.  He honorably served his country as a US Navy SEAL.  He loved his country, passionately following politics throughout his life.  An advocate for education and the pursuit of knowledge, Em enjoyed learning, teaching and coaching youth football.  Like his father, he attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison.  He made the Dean's List while attending UW.   Many will remember him for having deep intellectual discussions on a wide variety of topics.  His love of the Green Bay Packers endured throughout his life, spanning from the Lombardi Era to the present.  An outdoorsman second to none, Em embodied the true Wisconsin Northwoods spirit.   From attending Camp Onaway as a child to taking his family camping in the state forests and finally to finding tranquility at his family's cabin in the upper peninsula, he carried his love of nature throughout his life.   Above all else, his greatest love was for his family.  He was the heart of his family.   Em was a devout follower of Christ, eagerly awaiting the return of Jesus. 

Emory was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Elbe.

The visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home from 9:00AM to 11:00AM.  A private family funeral will follow and interment will be in the Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, WI.  In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in his name.
