CLYDE KETTNER

Clyde Kettner, 82, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2021 at Willow Lane Assisted Living Center in Appleton, Wisconsin. He was born on June 23, 1939 in Green Bay, WI to the late Ervin and Alvina (Popp) Kettner.  Clyde married the love of his life Elizabeth “Betty” Becher 64 years ago on June 8, 1957.

Besides his wife Betty, he leaves behind four daughters, Kim Kettner of Manitowoc; Debra (Kurt) Schweitzer of Greenville; Dawn (Steve) Kettner of Appleton; Sherry (Steve) VanDyke of Neenah; and sister, Joyce Kettner of Appleton and family friend Fran Palmer.  He also leaves behind five grandchildren including: Jacqueline Brzozowski, Michelle Horstman, Stephen Schweitzer, and Michael and Mitchell VanDyke as well as 10 great grandchildren.  Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Alvina Kettner and his many loyal and loving hunting dogs.

Clyde held many jobs in the Fox Valley, retiring as Plant Manager of Drainage Industries.  Throughout his career, he also co-owned Big Lake Tackle Company and United Plastics.  Clyde had a very strong work ethic and prided himself on being able to fix anything.  Heaven, stock up on Duck tape, super glue and 3M hooks, because Clyde is coming!  He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and shooting.  His favorite days were spent shooting sporting clays at J&H Game Farm and pheasant hunting at North Oak Hunt Club with his family.  He was recognized many times as a volunteer for “Challenge of the Outdoors”, which served those with disabilities.  Clyde also won the nickname “Clyde the Guide” from years of slaying muskies in Boulder Junction.

A private family service was held to respect the health and safety of Clyde's friends and family as the pandemic continues. A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date for all to come and share your stories and memories of Clyde. We invite you to offer condolences and share memories of Clyde in Westgor Funeral Home's online Guest Book.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up in Clyde's name for Willow Lane Assisted Living.

The family would like to thank Dr. Curtis Baltz, the staff at Willow Lane Assisted Living Center, and Heartland Hospice Care for the dignity and compassion shown to Clyde while in their care.  Thank you to Westgor Funeral Home for taking dad on his last ride around Neenah's Kimberly Point and the boat landing, which was one of Clyde's favorite drives.  

In heaven, we hope that the pheasants are plentiful and your faithful dog is always at your side.  We will never forget you and we will love you forever.
