Susan Bond Flanner

Sue passed away peacefully on January 22, 2021 in her home surrounded by her family following a long battle with Ovarian Cancer and Leukemia. Sue was born March 6, 1944 to Oscar and Joyce Salesky in Marinette Wisconsin. Following graduation from high school, Sue went to Milwaukee to attend business school where she learned numerous secretarial skills. Sue moved to Neenah and spent her career as an administrative secretary and worked for the Affinity Health system until her retirement in 2002. 

She married Walt Bond in 1966. Together they had 3 children whom they, along with their children, were the joy in her life. Sue married Edward Flanner August 21st, 2001 and enjoyed 19 years of marriage prior to his passing on November 28th, 2020. They had been together for nearly 40 years. Together they traveled to many destinations including Ireland, Alaska, the Caribbean, Las Vegas, and Aruba and loved cruising and train trips.  Sue loved the warm weather and the places they saw together.  Sue traveled with her sister Jane on many adventures throughout her lifetime. Sue loved gardening and growing dahlias. You could find her working in her garden or on her riding lawn mower on any given sunny, warm day. Sue loved going up to the cottage with her children and grandkids. They loved to play rummy on the porch and catch fish off the dock. Those were what she called, "Her favorite times."

She loved watching her grandchildren grow and attended every musical, sporting and academic event.  She enjoyed every birthday, holiday and special time with each of them. She was active with the First United Methodist Church in Neenah for many decades sharing her talents on the piano and organ. She especially loved the Christmas Eve services.

Sue is survived by her children: Jeffrey (Cindy Waraksa) Bond, Jane (Wayne) Peters, Doug (Michelle Lindner) Bond; and her grandchildren: Bradley (Hannah Montanez) and Danielle Bond, Dylan, Alex and Josh Peters and Savannah Bond.  She is also survived by her sister, Jane Rettke; nieces: Heidi Rettke and Heather (Sean) Maloney; a sister-in-law, Louise (Milton) Koehler; step-children and step-grandchildren; many cousins and extended family.

A celebration of Sue's life will be held Tuesday, January 26th, 2021 at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:00pm-2:45pm with a private family service following.
