DONALD ANTON

Donald C. Anton, age 88, peacefully went to heaven on January 24, 2021.  The Lord chose to take our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend at Elder Lodge Assisted Living, Neenah, WI.

Don was born on November 26, 1932, in Clintonville, WI.  The son of the late Arnold and Erna (Jaeger) Anton.  He graduated from Clintonville High School with the class of 1952.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 and was a veteran of the Korean War.  One year of his service was in Iceland.

Don married Jane Brown of New London, WI on December 18, 1954, at Emanuel Lutheran Church.  They shared 66 years of marriage together.  Don moved his family to Neenah, WI in 1955, where he worked for a short time at Eggers Industries (Hardwood Products).  He then worked for Gilbert Paper Co. Menasha, WI for 35 years until his retirement in 1995.

Don was an active member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Town of Clayton.  He and Jane traveled to many U.S. locations throughout their lives.  After retirement, Don was even more active.  He was always completing projects around the house and gladly offered a helping hand to family and friends.

Don suffered from Dementia/Alzheimer's disease, but he was grateful for the loving, diligent care of his wife and family as his health declined.  Don will be missed by those who knew and loved him.  We rejoice that he is no longer in pain and look forward to the day we will see him again in heaven.

Don is survived by his wife, Jane; one daughter, Barbara; one grandson, James and wife Tracie; and two great grandchildren, Charles and Harrison, Appleton.  Survivors also include his brother, Robert (Betty) Anton, Fort Atkinson; sisters: Virginia (LeRoy) Ziesemer, Appleton; Beatrice Bellin, Sturgeon Bay; Carol (Ronald) Bunkleman, Greenville; Sandra (Walter Jr.) Lippert, Hartford; sister-in-law, Eileen Anton, Jefferson.  Preceding him in death was a brother, Carl; a sister, Sheila Ulsberger; and brothers-in-law, Eugene Bellin and Ronald Ulsberger.  He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Elder Lodge Assisted Living and Heartland Hospice who were by his side in his last days and moments.  Because of Covid-19, a private funeral ceremony for the immediate family only is planned.  Memorials have been established for Immanuel Lutheran Church, 3703 Fairview Road, Neenah; Elder Lodge Assisted Living of Neenah and Heartland Hospice of DePere, WI.
